FBI Working to Release Data on Slain Officers

Twenty-seven percent of police officers killed last year were the result of ambushes on law enforcement officers, according to an FBI press release distributed on Monday announcing the publication of the 2010 Law Enforcement Officers Killed and Assaulted report.

Yale Students Develop Rapid Bacteria Detector

A team of engineering graduate students at Yale is working to create a new technology that could help prevent widespread food-borne illness and lead to quicker diagnosis of bacterial infections. The device, called alpha screen, is a portable, rapid, pathogen scanner that can detect as few as one bacterium.
